Marriage, Family or Individual Therapy

Therapists are qualified to diagnose and treat mental illness, as well as complex, family dysfunction. They are highly-trained professionals who spend years in graduate programs, followed by post-graduate supervision. Almost always, therapists will issue a diagnosis as a part of their professional protocol. They are trained to assess the problems in individual & family systems, disrupt negative cycles, challenge distorted thinking, & introduce interventions & objectives that promote change. They often work with other healthcare providers, keeping meticulous records to provide the necessary support to their clientele, which will facilitate progress. They are bound by a strict Code of Ethics (AAMFT, 2015), which forbids any relationship with a client outside of therapy or treatment outside of their state of licensure.

There are many suffering from mental illnesses which have already been diagnosed, or may need a diagnosis & an intense, corresponding treatment plan. Often a couple or family is coping with issues which require this more acute level of care. I work primarily as a therapist, and provide such services as-needed, under this business model. I am currently working with AAMFT-approved supervisors, Megan Bartley & Craig Herink, to enhance my professional techniques & training. I am happy to see therapy clients in an office setting, or via Telehealth, depending on their needs.

Individual & Relationship Coaching

Coaching can be a preferable option when a mental health diagnosis is not needed & the treatment of mental illness or severe, familial distress is not a concern. It can be beneficial for clients who seek accountability, help with life choices & objective listening and feedback. It is used to improve quality of life in personal or professional relationships. Coaching permits a trusted professional who you may already share a relationship with, to help you attain your personal and/or relationship goals, without limiting, geographical boundaries. It is optimal for clients who need flexibility and ease, without the concern of their innermost thoughts & feelings becoming part of a permanent medical record.

A coach offers many similar tools that a therapist might, but does not diagnose or treat mental illnesses. Coaches provide accountability, insight, education & can help clear cognitive blocks that healthy people develop. It is a fantastic, preventive model & a lighter approach than therapyAs a clinician, I appreciate coaching & the benefits it provides clients. I believe coaching to be a method of practice that can prevent pathology from developing & thus necessitating more intense, psychological treatment.
