About Liz
I have always had a passion for helping people find greater happiness in their lives and relationships. I am the oldest of 7 daughters & the big sister in me shines through. In my younger years, I often found myself a safe haven for those struggling & needing someone to hold their confidences. After graduating in 2005 with a B.A. in Communication from the University of Louisville, I knew that I eventually wanted to pursue work as a marriage & family therapist. However, I decided to glean important, life experiences beforehand. I worked in a fast-paced, Sales & Business Development position for J.P. Morgan Chase as my husband completed medical school in Arizona & eventually became a top, company representative. During this time, I learned how important hard work, transparency, charisma & trust are to forging lasting, professional relationships. As our family grew, I made the choice to prioritize raising our children as my spouse worked in his residency program in Galveston, Texas. Those years were full of struggle & chaos, but also fun & growth. I became very aware of my own mental health needs and relational functioning & began a journey of discovering how to better manage those aspects of my life. Being a mother to our 5 children & a partner to my incredible spouse, has deepened my ability to help families in profound ways. Upon the completion of my husband's medical training, we returned to Arizona, where I promptly began my own graduate work. After years of study, & following an extensive, clinical internship, I completed my M.A. in Marriage & Family Therapy (with a specialization in Couples Therapy) from Northcentral University in 2022. I am privileged to be working under the supervision of an experienced mentor, Craig Herink, who helps refine my skills with clientele. Finally having been able to move back to my home state of Kentucky, I am excited to be pursing this dream of helping others embrace wellness in our commonwealth. It is my highest honor to help teach couples, families & individuals how to traverse difficulties, deepen understanding of themselves & transform their lives.

When not working with clients, I'm staying active --I love time with my family, pickleball, hiking, weightlifting & kickboxing. I enjoy eating ethnic foods, cooking, baking, & listening to old, Jazz standards. I never tire of good books & podcasts, & greatly appreciate opportunities to travel & share new experiences with our children. I consider my spirituality & connection to God a crucial component of my life & relationships.

Approach
Maintained in my sessions is an open dialogue with my clients that assists them in creating positive change in their marriages, families & individual lives. If you do not like candor, I may not be the clinician for you. Having someone hold you accountable, as you take the necessary steps to correct unhealthy patterns, can be crucial to success. Too often, individuals choose to remain victims of their circumstances, rather than proactively changing their mindset, to becoming victors. I seek to empower clients through uncovering what may be hindering their growth & consistently embrace a focus on building resilience & strength. Laughter is a main ingredient in my sessions & it's a powerful component to the alliances I build.
I relish seeing clients smile & develop pride in their progress. It is such a privilege to hold their trust, expand their understanding, offer helpful perspectives & share in the joy of their improvement. I seek to provide a warm environment of compassion, acceptance, humor & honesty in my sessions. I want clients to feel as though they are communicating with a trusted friend. I utilize techniques found in Cognitive-Behavioral, Emotionally-Focused, Solution-Focused and Gottman therapies. Most importantly, I blend interventions from various models to suit the individual needs of those I see. I contemplate each of my clients & their unique struggles outside of the therapy room, & will look for additional resources which may benefit them in-between our sessions.

Vision
To provide empathy, education & empowerment to clients, which can serve to revolutionize their lives & relationships.
