Confidentiality
...and its limits
Everything shared and discussed in therapy or coaching is confidential. Information about your treatment will not be disclosed without your explicit, written permission.
Exceptions to Confidentiality Include:

If you are suspected to be involved in child abuse, elder or dependent adult abuse, I am required to follow mandated procedures for reporting such possible abuse.

If you are intending to harm yourself (suicide), I will take great effort to seek your cooperation in ensuring your safety. Unfortunately, if you will not cooperate, I may need to take further action to protect your safety.

If you are intending to take action to seriously harm (homicide) another person/s, I must take action to safeguard any potential victims .


Electronic Communication
The confidentiality of electronic communication (text & email) cannot be guaranteed & is generally not HIPPA compliant. Though I use an email service that is intended to be HIPPA compliant, please be aware of possible complications that could arise if you elect to use such methods to communicate about therapeutic issues.
I will generally limit use of texts to scheduling & administrative matters. Please be aware of this & try to use discretion when using this mode of communication.
Clients will often conduct online searches about my practice and/or me.
Unless it is necessitated by a clinical need to assure the well-being of clients, I will not search clients online or interact via Facebook or other social media, as it is not considered professionally ethical.
